The Victoria Highland Games Association is pleased to present the “Falconry Experience” on May 16th & 17th, 2020 at the 157th Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival at Topaz Park.

This is a special opportunity for an up-close and hands-on handling experience with “Team Feathers” – Mohave, a movie star red-tailed hawk and 2 beautiful falcons, Halo and Scirocco! There are four sessions on Saturday, May 15th and three sessions on Sunday, May 16th.

Presented by the “Falcon Lady”, Joanne Bentley, these sessions are open to visitors 12 years of age and older. Each session is limited to 6 guests. The registration fee is $35.00 and includes a one-day field entry (value $20).

Choose between one of the following wonderful experiences:

1)The “Where’s my lunch?!?!” session with ‘Mohave – students enjoy a game of ‘in-the-round’ with our big Red Tail as he flies glove-to-glove in search of tasty treats!

2) The “Swing that Lure!” session with ‘Halo’ – students learn how to do a basic lure-swing, then have ‘Halo’ fly toward them so he can capture his lunch on the lure.

3) The “Walk-about with Team Feathers” session – students learn how to approach, pick-up, and carry our Feathered companions, then take them for a walk around the grounds (with supervision, of course).

Safe handling techniques will be covered for all sessions – non-participants are invited to come watch their friends and family members, and take lots of photographs for their Instagram or Facebook pages.
