The Victoria Highland Games Association is pleased to present “The Wine Tasting School” on Sunday, May 17 2020, at the 157th Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival at Topaz Park.

All sessions will feature premium wines (5-6 samples each class) presented by Callum Heap from Everything Wine.

The registration fee is $35 and includes a one-day field entry (value $20).

Guests must be aged 19 years or older to attend!

Any sparkling wine can be called Champagne, right? Actually, Champagne is a protected term which can only be used to describe a sparkling wine from the region of Champagne in France. However, there are many different styles of sparkling wine from around the world, such as prosecco, cava, cremant, and many more. These bubbles have various things in common but also demonstrate unique qualities. Come and taste the range, you might leave with a new favourite.

Incredibly, rose wine has grown and grown over the years and is now one of the most popular types of wine available on the market. So, come and see what all the fuss is about as we prepare you for those summer-sippers.

During this informative class we will be showcasing why French wines are so popular and how they are able to produce such an array of different wines, from sparkling, white, rose, red and even dessert wines. They say variety is the spice of life so if you like variety, or just have an affinity for French wine, then this is the event for you.

Fortune favours the bold, or so the saying goes. Fortunately, we have scoured the continent to find some of the most powerful red wines to showcase during this event. Full-bodied red wines are certainly popular and can be found all over Canada, USA and even Mexico. Wait… Mexico? Yes, Mexico. You really won’t want to miss this class as we will be highlighting some Canadian wines and demonstrating the incredible quality on offer from our homeland.
