The 71st Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival is a great weekend for the entire family. We want to share our love of Scottish culture, entertain you and give you a great value for money. Here is a list of some of the things you will find over the two days:

8:00 am - Men's Amateur B and Novice Heavy Events Competition begins
8:30 am - Clan Booths, Vendors, and Concessions Open
9:00 am - Bouncy castles, face painting, balloons (middle field - all day)
10:00 am - Entertainment stage opens (middle field - various acts all day)
10:00 am - Sheep dog trial begins (lower field)
10:30 am - Kilted Mile and Haggis Hurling Registration Open
11:00 am - Beer garden opens - Esquimalt Lighthouse Brewery
11:00 am - Kids mini-heavy events (middle field) - Kids kilted 100-yard dash (middle field)
12:00 pm - First Single Malt Whisky School session begins (middle field)
12:30 pm - Celtic Festival Opening Ceremonies, Welcome, Pipe Band Performance
1:00 pm - First day of Men's Open Heavy Event Challenge, Team Canada vs Team USA (Upper field)
1:00 pm - Kilted Mile Competition begins

2:00 pm - Kids mini-heavy events (middle field), Kids kilted 100-yard dash (middle field)
2:00 pm - Tug of War Competition begins (middle field)

8:30 am - Clan Booths, Vendors, and Concessions Open
9:00 am - Highland Dance (primary, beginner, novice)
10:00 am - Individual Piping & Drumming competitions begin
9:00 am - Bouncy castles, face painting, balloons (middle field - all day)
10:00 am - Entertainment stage opens (middle field - various acts all day)
11:00 am - Beer garden opens
11:00 am - Kids mini-heavy events (middle field), Kids kilted 100-yard dash (middle field)
12:30 pm - Opening Ceremonies (Parade, Skydivers, Massed Bands and Mass Fling, Introduction of Dignitaries, Opening of Games by Chieftain of the Day, Fraser Highlanders (muskets and cannon)
1:00 pm - Second day of Men's Open Heavy Event Challenge (Team Canada vs Team USA)
1:00 pm - Highland Dance Competitions resume (intermediate; premier)
1:15 pm - First Session of Single Malt Whisky School begins (middle field)
2:00 pm - Kids mini-heavy events (middle field), Kids kilted 100-yard dash (middle field)
2:30 pm - Pipe band competitions begin (middle field)
3:15 pm - Second Single Malt Whisky School session begins (middle field)

5:00 pm - Closing Ceremonies (Award Athlete of the Day, Award Best Clan Display, Pipe Band Awards and Aggregate Dance Awards, Massed pipe bands finale)

For the Kids

The VHGA is very pleased to be presenting a Free Kid's Area. The Victoria Highland Games is one of the best values going around for families - especially seeing that children under 12 are free. Here is are some of events for the day:

Whisky Tasting School

The Single Malt Whisky Tasting School will hold two afternoon sessions on each of May 16 and May 17 on the middle Games and Festival field at Topaz Park. Guests can sit down and enjoy a Scottish educational and cultural experience on the Victoria "Whisky Trail".Click here for more information.

We have a great line up of acts on the entertainment stage this year. Details to follow

We are very excited about our expanded concession options for this year.

Lions Club - Pancake Breakfast, hamburgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers
Mac's Pies - Traditional Scottish Fare including Slice on Bap, and the very popular Scotch Pie

The Rampant Lion Pub

The Victoria Highland Games Association features a great Beer Garden where you can sit and relax, and soak up the atmosphere. We are proud to provide Lighthouse Brewery products in our Beer Garden.

Concession Vendors

A limited number of concession (food and drink) vendors are allowed to participate in the highly popular Victoria Highland Games concession. If you are interested, please contact Adele at delilama@shaw.ca.

Vendors

The Victoria Highland Games always has the best Scottish and Celtic vendors from across the Pacific Northwest in attendance. You will find everything from kilts to books, pipes to jewelery and souvenirs to local crafts. Come out and see our wonderful selection.

Clans and Organizations

We are happy to host a wide array of Clans and Scottish Organizations at our event. We have something for you whether it be meeting long lost relatives, finding your history, country dancing or simply learning about Celtic culture we have what you are looking for.
